EQ Office Partners with Industrious for New LA Employee-Oriented Workspace

EQ Office, formerly known as Equity Office, has undergone a major rebranding effort and is now partnering with Industrious to create an employee-oriented workspace at the Howard Hughes Center in Los Angeles. The collaboration is the first of its kind, a unique partnership between a real estate owner and a flex operator.

The six-building, 1.4 million-square-foot West Los Angeles office space will feature both indoor and outdoor work spaces—for the full Southern California lifestyle experience, fitness options, a farmers’ market, a pickleball court, and local food, beverage and retail offerings. Industrious will manage 100,000 to 140,000 square feet of flexible office suites here.

It is estimated that the new Howard Hughes Center will house 120 to 150 businesses and draw roughly 6,000 professionals and visitors daily, 50% more than its current daily foot traffic. The space was designed by Rios Clementi Hale Studios, with on-site work to transform the property being scheduled for completion in February 2019.

“[T]he partnership enables us and EQ to be big enough and bold enough to materially increase the engagement, happiness and productivity of the employees who walk into work there every day. To Industrious and EQ, that positive impact on the day of our tenants and guests is the core of what we’re doing here and why we’re doing it,” Jamie Hodari, CEO of Industrious, said about the project. “This is going to be a true campus environment where different personality types, work styles and industries can all come to thrive.”

Owned by real estate juggernaut Blackstone, EQ Office is a company with more than $450 billion worth of office assets under management in Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, Boston and Seattle, according to Bisnow. Now, after 42 years of experience in the business, the company is turning towards helping companies attract, retain and inspire talent by focusing on the employee experience.
